Isinglass is a form of collagen obtained from the dried swim bladders of fish. Since fish is halal, isinglass is halal. It is primarily used as a fining (clarifying) agent in beer and wine production, and occasionally in food. While the isinglass itself is halal, the fact that it is used in alcoholic beverages raises a separate issue.
Rarely listed on final products as it is a processing aid. May appear as 'isinglass' or 'fish glue' in artisanal products.
